(Newser) – George Clooney supports Barack Obama, but unlike Scarlett Johansson he's not claiming to be a campaign consultant or in regular contact. The actor today refuted an LA Times story saying he “frequently text messages” the candidate, People reports. “I have never texted or emailed Sen. Obama,” Clooney said. “And I'll offer a million dollars to anyone who could prove otherwise.”

“I’ve spent more time with Sen. McCain than I have with Sen. Obama,” said Clooney, adding that he's friendly with both standard-bearers. “I would never be dumb enough to offer policy advice to either candidate. They seem to be doing fine without me.”
