As starlet Lohan pesters for a date, swim star films HBO cameo, preps for MTV show

(Newser) – Michael Phelps is getting more Hollywood by the day, AP reports: The swimming star yesterday filmed a cameo spot for the show-biz-centric HBO series Entourage, and will be a presenter at MTV’s Video Music Awards on Sept. 7 (six days before he hosts Saturday Night Live). And, the Daily Mirror adds, starlet Lindsay Lohan has been calling and texting the Olympian with requests for a date.

“At first he thought it was a joke when she got in touch,” a source tells the Mirror of Lohan’s barrage. “But she's since been phoning and texting constantly. It's become a running joke in his camp. Lindsay has been trying to meet up with him. Phelps is certainly flattered by all the attention but it's not clear how seriously he's taking it all.”

Lohan has never shown up at an LA coroner's office, where she was supposed to work 120 hours, and rarely appeared at a women's shelter, where she was required to put in 360 hours. The time was mandated as part of Lohan's probation on a drunken driving and theft charge. "She was terminated from the women's center program for failing to show up. This was one of the terms of her probation. So we will seek jail time for her," a spokesman for the city attorney told the Los Angeles Times . More»

Duo Busted in MTV Producer's Murder

Gabriel Ben-Meir was shot dead in apparent robbery

(NEWSER) - A man and a woman have been busted in the shotgun murder of MTV producer Gabriel Ben-Meir, 30, outside his Los Angeles home earlier this week. Another man killed a week earlier has also been linked to the pair. Ben-Meir's wallet was missing when police examined his body, raising speculation that his killing was linked to a series of shotgun robberies, sources have told ABC News . Jabaar Vincent Thomas, 26, and Destiny Young, 29, are being held without bail, and will likely be charged with murder today. Lindsay Lohan's driver becomes subject of assault probe

(NEWSER) - A car in which Lindsay Lohan was a passenger struck and injured a paparazzo early this morning outside a Los Angeles nightclub, then quickly left the scene, police say. The BMW "sped away at a high rate of speed and hit a paparazzi photographer causing an injury to his hand, his wrist," an LAPD rep tells KTLA . The driver, an unidentified woman, is now involved in a criminal investigation of assault with a deadly weapon, TMZ reports. More»

Walhberg says show might go longer than 2 more seasons

(NEWSER) - Look for the boys on Entourage to be making the leap to the big screen. Executive producer Mark Wahlberg tells the Hollywood Reporter that plans are in the works for a movie when the HBO series wraps up after two more seasons.
