(Newser) – A Maryland woman is being held without bail after admitting she stored the corpses of her adopted 9- and-11-year old daughters in a basement freezer, WBAL TV reports. Police came to her house after a third daughter was found wandering the streets, covered in cuts and bruises. The woman has been charged with child abuse. Police are awaiting autopsy results before filing further charges.

"There wasn't one spot that didn’t have a bruise. From her legs to her arms, the back of her neck to her head to her face," said the man who found the 7-year-old runaway. "She said, 'My mother beats me to death, and she kicked me out of the house.'"

It's a tragedy. All we can do is hope the system doesn't let down this little girl. She's a 7-year-old and has been brutally victimized. She has been put through hell.
