Ex Blames Brinkley for Affair

Lack of emotional connection prompted cheating, Cook tells Walters

Share

(Newser) – Christie Brinkley’s adulterous ex-husband said that he cheated on the former supermodel because she did not offer the emotional connection he needed, ABC News reports. In an interview to be broadcast Friday, Peter Cook told Barbara Walters that by 2005 he and Brinkley felt “more like we were living with a brother and sister than a life partner.”

Cook didn’t feel Brinkley acknowledged “the tremendous amount of work I was putting into” the family, making him feel like an add-on, a “guest in someone else’s life.” He also lashed out at the widely circulated reports of his affairs and addiction to Internet porn, calling them “misinformation.” “I'm not the scumbag pervert that I've been painted to be," he told Walters.

I wanted a little acknowledgment, a little attention, a little thank you every now and then for my efforts. - Peter Cook

I think the emotional aspect of our lives had changed. I think I just suddenly realized when I was getting attention from someone else that this is something that is missing in my life. - Peter Cook

Funny, how before he married her, she DID give him enough emotional support. Was she a different woman? Or was he maybe just that enamored of marrying a model...? It's usually good to actually know the real reason so one doesn't repeat one's mistakes. Reply
