Teen Girl Faces Felony Porn Charges After Cell Prank

(Newser) – A 15-year-old Ohio girl who allegedly sent nude photos of herself to classmates as a joke faces felony child-porn charges—and may have to register as a sex offender, the Newark Advocate reports. The girl, who was arrested Friday and spent the weekend in jail, has pleaded not guilty. The incident took place after the county prosecutor visited high schools to warn students of the consequences of just such an act, WBNS-TV notes.

State legislators did not anticipate that their Megan’s law would one day apply to high-school kids, although it does allow judges to make exceptions for first-time juvenile offenders, a state official said. Authorities also are considering charges against the students who received the photos.
