Fired TV Anchor Was Conferring With Cops

Bikini incident only one of several missteps that contributed to dismissal

(Newser) – Ousted Chicago TV reporter Amy Jacobson may not have been fired just because she appeared in a bikini at the pool party of a man she was covering, the Chicago Tribune reports. Jacobson was feeding cops information, without telling her bosses, about her interviews with Craig Stebic, now under suspicion by police in the disappearance of his wife.

That's a breach of company standards, and one of several instances in which Jacobson got  too personally involved in her stories or  showed questionable judgment, the Trib reports,  painting a picture of a reporter whose willingness to bend rules produced "both exclusive stories and reprimands."
