Ted Kennedy is working to pave the way to a Senate seat for his niece Caroline, the New York Post reports. He called New York Gov. David Paterson to highlight Caroline’s connections, which could be a legislative boon to the state as it searches for a replacement for Secretary of State-designate Hillary Clinton. A family member said a new Senator Kennedy was a “strong possibility.”

While Caroline hasn’t publicly announced any Senate hopes, she has “made numerous overtures to get into politics,” said a New York Democrat. “She's looking for a mission in life, preferably in politics.”
