LA court raises James Spears' monthly salary by more than 50 percent

(Newser) – Some fathers take care of their kids for free, but Britney Spears can’t seem to pay her dad enough: A Los Angeles court this week raised Jamie Spears' monthly salary from $10,000 to $16,000, plus $1,200 in expenses, Us Weekly reports. Dad was awarded permanent legal control of Brit’s affairs in October, to help get his little pop princess’s personal life back on track.

(NEWSER) - Remember crazy Britney Spears? She seems to have been tootling along rather well. But apparently she's still a tad mentally incapacitated. That's what her parents are arguing in court as they battle a lawsuit from booted manager Sam Lutfi, reports KSFM . He's suing Brit's mom, Lynne, for defamation for writing in her book that he isolated the pop star from her parents and was a major negative influence. He's seeking a deposition from Britney to prove that wasn't the case. Now Britney's parents are trying to convince a judge that she's not mentally capable of giving a deposition, reports Billboard . (NEWSER) - The news that U2 was the top moneymaker in music in 2009 is no surprise, but what may come as a bit of a shock is the gap between No. 1 and No. 2.
