(Newser) – Antiwar mom Cindy Sheehan was arrested yesterday after overstaying her welcome in Rep. John Conyer's office on Capitol Hill. She was there to urge Conyers to impeach President Bush over his conduct of the war in Iraq, and to announce that she will run for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's San Francisco seat because Pelosi has declined to launch impeachment proceedings.

Sheehan, whose son died in Iraq, had led about 200 protesters on a walk from Arlington National Cemetery to Conyers’ office; about 45 others were arrested with her. Conyers runs the House Judiciary Committee and last term introduced a bill to determine if impeachment was warranted. Conyers told the protesters in his office the Democrats don't have enough votes for impeachment.
