(Newser) – Soccer virtuoso David Beckham may have kicked his last ball in the US, reports the Los Angeles Times. The midfielder is on loan from the Los Angeles Galaxy to AC Milan until March, and the boss of the Italian club has said he would welcome Beckham with "open arms"—and a permanent deal—if he can wriggle his way out of his American contract.

"The player wants to stay with us," said AC Milan's manager. Club officials plan to meet with Beckham's agent in a few days. Beckham reportedly believes staying at Milan would further his goal to play for England in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. But the Galaxy coach has indicated that he plans to hold the star to his contract.
