Steele Will Head RNC

(Newser) – Michael Steele emerged from a grueling contest today to become the first African-American chairman of the Republican National Committee, Politico reports. The six-ballot process, the most drawn-out in years, ended in the rare election of a non-member. “This is awesome,” the former Maryland lieutenant governor said, drawing a laugh. He said he  accepted the post with “a great deal of humility and a sense of service.”

In the final round of voting, Steele’s celebrity won out over South Carolina Republican stalwart Katon Dawson’s credentials. The possibility of a sea change for the GOP was not lost on RNC members—one of whom said, “This may be the most important decision we ever make." Said the new chair in his victory speech: “It’s time for something completely different."

I see how much "change" we have when we care because he's the 1st African American anything. Did Janet Reno make news as the 1st female AG, but new guy is? Now we have the 1st African American held of the GOP. Was Dr. Dean lauded as the 1st medical doctor head of the Democratic Party? Why do we need to label everyone with something? Until we stop the labelling we'll continue being some form of "ist" racist, sexist, whateverist. It's getting old

Every time 'Corona_king' spews his vile tantrums and insults, flag him using [flag this comment] . Its the only way we'll be rid of him and his constant berating insults. He's already been officially and formally addressed - DIRECTLY by NEWSER staff. Warned very clearly, he is to NEVER to abuse anyone. Yet he continues. It is only by your actions WE can make a difference on NEWSER. Lets end his endless arrogance, lack of respect and manors.
