Illinois Awash in Philandering Drunks: Blago

Deposed guv rails against 'holier than thou' lawmakers

(Newser) – The lawmakers who deposed Rod Blagojevich are “holier than thou” hypocrites, the ex-guv declared on a radio show this morning, saying that Springfield is full of anonymous lawmakers who drink too much and cheat on their wives. “This is how the system in Springfield works,” he said. “Nobody knows who they are. They’re away from their families. It’s a whole different world down there.”

He recounted a story in which an unnamed lawmaker’s wife discovered him cheating with his secretary and demanded he fire her. So the lawmaker asked Blagojevich to hire the secretary so he could continue sleeping with her. “I don't want to be too judgmental,” he said. “But these same guys get up and they get holier than thou on their soapboxes, and there they are doing that sort of thing.”

A bunch of them are cheating on their spouses. A lot of them drink in excess. Very few of them know what's going on. They just take their marching orders from legislative leaders. - Rod Blagojevich

I don’t understand what a person of his status is doing spreading rumors and gossip. I don’t know how it does him any good. I don’t know how it does the institution he used to represent any good. - Barbara Flynn Currie, Illinois House Majority Leader

"Philandering drunks" are one of the few industries we have left, Blago. Keep it under your hat.

How are we to know if this particular story is true? He is always producing evidents of the wrong doings of others. According to him he is the picked upon innocent. Blago, shut up, go home and don't bother us anymore. We don't need you to tell us some politician are sleeze balls. You are a prime example.

Exactly how would Blago know what goes on in Springfield? He refused to live in the governors mansion and commuted daily to and from Chicago.
