Murdoch Sorry for Cartoon

Says it was only intended to mock stimulus

Share

(Newser) – Rupert Murdoch eats some crow today, with a short statement in the New York Post apologizing for the now-infamous chimpanzee cartoon. “I have spoken to a number of people and I now better understand the hurt this cartoon has caused,” Murdoch writes. “The only intent of that cartoon was to mock a badly written piece of legislation. It was not meant to be racist.”

Apparently Mr. Murdoch has never been called a porch monkey. If he had; he might have done some rethinking before running this cartoon. That said; the meaning behind the cartoon was not very clear. In other words; it was not a well-done political cartoon. Reply

"The only intent was to mock a badly written piece of legislation" If that was the intent (which it wasn't) it was a major FAIL. The author of the cartoon appears to be an idiot, using a poorly constructed excuse for his lack of wit. The intent was clearly racist. Reply

Clearly, a great many DO care. In point of fact, Michael Wolff said on Olbermann that Murdoch would never mention this controversy, much less ever apologize. Guess hell just froze over
