Another athlete might undersell his post-surgery abilities, but Tiger Woods is not any athlete. “He’s not just comfortable with the demands of greatness,” Dave Hyde writes in the South Florida Sun-Sentinel ahead of today’s first round of the CA Championship. “He embraces them. He builds them, even.” And Woods, touting his good-as-new knee, concurs: “I’m ready to win,” he said yesterday.

The knee should help driving accuracy, a rough spot in Woods’ game even when he was in winning form otherwise. His return has doubled ticket sales at the Florida event—and all 50 of the world’s top players are in the field, USA Today adds. Woods has won this tournament six of nine times—including five in a row before Geoff Ogilvy snapped the streak last year. (More Tiger Woods stories.)
