(Newser) – Rihanna’s alleged assault by Chris Brown is re-enacted in a new PSA, AP reports. Actors play out the scene while a narrator reads details from the police affidavit. “There was no need to sensationalize things. It was bad enough,” says the CEO of DoSomething.org, adding that white actors were chosen for the roles: “I think people need to realize that this is an issue that affects everybody of every race.”

"We didn't want to be overdramatic," said Nancy Lublin, DoSomething.org CEO. "Our goal was not to shoot a Lifetime TV movie. There was no need to sensationalize things. It was bad enough."   (YouTube)

This is an issue that goes beyond those particular people, and it affects everybody of every race. And so we wanted this to not be an exact re-enactment. We wanted instead to say: Could this be you? - Nancy Lublin, DoSomething.org CEO

The PSA was powerful.... right up to the end, where they suggested wearing colored wrist bands would be 'doing something about it'. Horseshit. Doing something about it would include no time off for good behavior. Of cousre he behaved himself in jail. There were no women to victimize. Another thing to do is for men to teach boys it is flatly ALWAYS wrong to hit a woman. Period. Better yet, teach its wrong to hit another person, period.
