(Newser) – A 14-year-old New Jersey girl has been charged with possessing and distributing child porn for posting nude photos of herself on her MySpace web pages, reports WPIX-TV. If convicted, the girl may have to register as a sex offender. The case highlights increasing problems with children posting or texting racy images of themselves. "This is a wake-up call for parents," said an official. "The girl posted the photos because she wanted her boyfriend to see them."

Shouldn't there be a separate set of laws for Jersey girls? Reply

She wanted her boyfriend to see them? Isn't that what e-mail is for? Or how about printing the pictures out and handing them to him? Old-fashioned, I realize, but a lot less likely to get you in trouble, eh? Of course, there's always the question of why a 14-year-old girl thinks its OK to have her boyfriend see her naked..... She is a minor. Minor's are protected by child porn laws because they cannot give their consent for sexual activity. So, how can she be accountable for posting what she is unaccountable for appearing in? Either she is a minor deserving protection, or she is an adult who can consent to being photographed. You can7t have it both ways! Reply
