An ax-wielding Palestinian went on a rampage in a Jewish West Bank settlement today, killing an Israeli teenager and wounding a young boy before fleeing the area, the AP reports. Security guards shot and wounded the assailant before he could escape, and police are now hunting for him.

Police say both a knife and an ax were used in the attacks, which killed a 13-year-old and left a 7-year-old badly wounded. So far no group has claimed responsibility, but the attack is still likely to heighten tensions between the Palestinians and Israel’s new hard-line government.
