List of saved Jews that inspired book was buried deep in box of author's papers

(Newser) – A rare copy of one of Oskar Schindler's original lists has been found in an Australian library, Reuters reports. The 13 yellowing pages list hundreds of Jews the German industrialist saved from the gas chambers by employing them in his factories. The list was given to Schindler's List author Thomas Kenneally by Los Angeles luggage shop owner Leopold Pfefferberg—whose name is No. 173 on the list—after a chance meeting in 1980.

"The original list was hurriedly typed on 18 April 1945 in the closing days of WWII, and it saved 801 men from the gas chambers," said a curator at the Sydney library, who found the list buried deep in a box of Kenneally's research papers. "It's an incredibly moving piece of history."

(NEWSER) - The remains of some 60 Jews killed in 1941 by Romanian troops and discovered last year were buried yesterday in a Jewish cemetery in the country’s east. The bodies, including those of women and children, were found in November in a Romanian forest. The mass grave was added evidence of the country’s involvement in the Holocaust, a matter kept quiet for decades. ADL Rips Beck for 'Horrific' Assault on George Soros

Jewish liberal helped send Jews to camps, he said

(NEWSER) - The Anti-Defamation League is blasting Glenn Beck for accusing liberal philanthropist George Soros, who is Jewish, of helping Nazis send Jews to their death. Soros at the age of 14 "used to go around with this anti-Semite and deliver papers to the Jews and confiscate their property and then ship them off," said Beck this week. "Here’s a Jewish boy helping send the Jews to the death camps." He also called Soros "an atheist who doesn't embrace his Jewish identity." Beck referred to himself as "more supportive of Israel and the Jews than George Soros is.” Soros has discussed once accompanying a Hungarian official posing as his godfather as the man inventoried a house abandoned by fleeing Jews.
