Mother Gains Notoriety After Kicking Kids to the Curb

Park Ave. lawyer pulls 'bad mommy' move

Share

(Newser) – The quiet suburban life of Madlyn Primoff—a mother of two who litigated international financial disputes for a Park Avenue law firm—has come undone in a wash of publicity, the Journal News reports, after her kids’ bickering proved too annoying in downtown White Plains last weekend. In a bit of tough love, Primoff, 45, kicked her daughters, aged 10 and 12, from her car, leaving them alone on the street.

The 12-year-old caught up with the car and was let back in, but the 10-year-old was found by a pedestrian and turned over to police. After a night in jail, Primoff faces a charge of endangering a child, and media from around the globe have taken notice, running her unflattering mug shot and headlines like the Huffington Posts’s “The Branding of a Bad Mommy.”

Great. Love how the police are telling this woman how to discipline. 20 bucks says those kids were being brats and they needed a lesson. And about that "endangering" - the children would have been in the same "danger" had they walked to a friend's house. Gimme a break. Aren't there enough legit cases to keep social services busy? If you are already a parent, I pray for your children. If you are not, I hope you never have children, If this is your idea of proper disciplinary procedure. This 10 year old was abandoned 3 miles from her home, in an urban area. Comparing that to a stroll to a friends house in the neighborhood is a canard, plain and simple.

At 10 and 12, you'd treat your child(ren) similarly? I've been pissed at my children, but not stupid, nor irresponsible.

Right on Laura. It's always the mother who gets blamed. Today I would be arrested for child abuse because I spanked my children when they were young. Reply
