Mad Men Snags BAFTA

Branagh also among top winners

(Newser) Mad Men was the big US winner at last night’s BAFTA television awards, beating The Wire and The Daily Show to win best international show, notes the Hollywood Reporter. X Factor, another Simon Cowell-produced talent competition, won best entertainment show, while Kenneth Branagh picked up best drama series for his Scandinavian detective show, Wallander. More winners:

  • Best Actor: Stephen Dillane, The Shooting of Thomas Hurndall
  • Best Actress: Anna Maxwell Martin, Poppy Shakespeare
  • Best Specialist Factual Series: David Attenborough, Life in Cold Blood
  • Best Entertainment Performance: Harry Hill, Harry Hill's TV Burp
  • Best Comedy Performance: David Mitchell, Peep Show
  • Best Situation Comedy: The IT Crowd
  • Best Factual Series: Bruce Parry, Amazon With Bruce Parry
  • Best Current Affairs Series: Saving Africa's Witch Children
  • Best Documentary: Brian Wood, Chosen
  • Philips Audience Award: Skins
