(Newser) – In a sign that Farrah Fawcett's condition may be deteriorating, her son Redmond O'Neal received a get-out-of-jail pass this weekend to visit her, E! reports. “A judge signed a removal order,” a Los Angeles Sheriff’s spokesman said. “It happens sometimes for a funeral or if someone is gravely ill.” Redmond has said that Fawcett’s battle with cancer is going poorly, but others insist she is not in dire straits.

Ridiculous considering Lindsay, Khloe Kardashian and all the other celebs that spent MINUTES in jail when their sentences were several months long. Slap a house arrest bracelet on his ankle so he can't leave his home and let him stay at home with his dying mother. I thought the jails in Los Angeles were so overcrowded that people were being released early for nearly everything except murder?

I commend the LA county Sheriff's department on their compassion, knowing as they do that our society could very well crumble if this hardened criminal, convicted of marijuana possession, smokes a joint while he's free. I am thankful to live in a country where neer-do-wells like Redmond are securely locked away and can pose no threat to good citizens like alberto gonzales, bush, cheney, rumsfeld, john yoo and judge bybee.
