(Newser) – Not yet done touring to promote his new album, Lionel Richie is already talking up his next effort, Billboard reports. “I’ve plugged into a world beat somewhere,” Richie said of the upcoming disc, which he will produce himself with collaborators. “I can always tell when I’m going in the right direction—I scare the record company to death!”

He also confirmed rumors of a Commodores reunion—sort of. “I can honestly tell you before the end of the year, for sure, you'll hear a rumble,” he said. “I think now might be the proper time.”
