Establishment, Tea Party, libertarians all negative in different ways

(NEWSER) - With the Republican Party so divided, it's no surprise that its response to President Obama's State of the Union address would also be divided, notes the Washington Post . In addition to an official response by Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels and a Tea Party response by Herman Cain, Mitt Romney and the other GOP candidates also weighed in:

• Cain's rebuttal focused on familiar Tea Party complaints—"Obamacare," "class warfare," and the "liberal media." Cain also addressed old sexual harassment allegations against him, noting that the "false attacks" derailed his campaign, but that accusations against Newt Gingrich failed because "the American people are waking up to dirty, gutter politics,” he said. “The American voters are saying, ‘We ain’t stupid.’"

Virginia Republican Party goes ballistic over gory image

(NEWSER) - Conservatives in Virginia checked their email today and found an image of President Obama with a bullet through his head—courtesy of Loudon County's Republican committee. The image portrayed Obama as a zombie, with a bleeding hole in his forehead and part of his skull missing, the Washington Post reports. State party chair Pat Mullins responded by saying that "the disgusting image used today on a mass email has no place in our politics. Ever." More»

Rush doesn't believe 'ideal Republican' will turn his back on Obama

(NEWSER) - Colin Powell said this weekend that he wasn't all that sure about voting for President Obama this election, but Rush Limbaugh says that's a load of hooey, reports ThinkProgress . Says prez wanted 'excuse for his failing economy'

(NEWSER) - Rush Limbaugh not only says the media oversold Hurricane Irene —he argues that Obama was "hoping" it would be a widespread "disaster" to justify the nation's economic woes, the Huffington Post reports. "I'll guarantee you Obama was hoping this was going to be a disaster as another excuse for his failing economy," Limbaugh said on his show today. 'Or-Bam-eo' is a 'biracial triple double-dipper,' Rush slurs

(NEWSER) - Rush Limbaugh called a new Triple Double Oreo a "biracial" cookie with both vanilla and chocolate cream that he quipped will be known at the "Or-Bam-eo—the triple double-dipper." Limbaugh has used the Oreo slight once before against Obama, BET points out. In 2009, he said that food safety advocates were “going to go after Oreos,” but said they might have to wait until "Obama leaves office." More»
