(Newser) – Wine connoisseurs are uniting in an unlikely venue—Twitter. The microblogging site is the perfect place to talk wine, writes Alyssa Rapp for Forbes. After all, “there’s no apologizing for spilling wine on someone else’s rug, and no one has to drive home.” A few simple tools can help drown out the noise of thousands of Twitter users and focus on the essentials.

“There’s a bit more to it than just opening a bottle of wine, plopping down at your computer, and starting your Twitter account,” Rapp writes. Use a personalized search or hash tags to focus which tweets you see. Ambitious tasters can create a Twitter account solely for a wine-tasting group. Not up to spearheading your own group? Take part in one of many live Twitter tastings.
