(Newser) – Despite high-flying rumors, American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert isn't the new frontman for Queen—yet. But after performing with him on the show's finale, drummer Roger Taylor and guitarist Brian May “are definitely hoping to have a meaningful conversation with him at some point,” May tells Rolling Stone. Though they won’t rush into anything, May says he would “certainly like to work with Adam. That is one amazing instrument he has there.”

“If you have enough talent and enough will to succeed, you will get there by whatever route presents itself,” said May of Idol’s legitimacy. “Once you have scaled the castle walls, with the sword in your hand, it matters little how you got there. I’ve not always been positive about shows like this, but there is no doubt that it offers a door to some real genuine talent along the way.”

Freddie Mercury WAS Queen. Any band without him specifically is just a cover band.

No way. He could never be as amazing as Freddie Mercury. In fact, he'd be a bit of an insult to him.

Not an Adam fan BUT, he'd be PERFECT for the job...a queen takes a queen's job.
