Swine Flu Hits US Troops in Kuwait

First cases reported in the Gulf region

Share

(Newser) – In the first appearance of swine flu in the Gulf region, 18 American soldiers have tested positive for the disease, reports the BBC. All affected troops have left Kuwait and received medical attention. The soldiers at the military base—a logistics outpost for troops serving in Iraq—did not come into contact with the local Kuwaiti population, according to officials.

Not for the H1N1 virus. Yellow Fever, Smallpox and a few other viruses have priority

I thought the best option was to quarantine infected people where they are rather than ship them elsewhere....I could be wrong.... Reply

The H1N1 virus started in Mexico, at least that is what they say according to reports, but you can't quarantine an entire country, so any tourist from other countries would have spread it by now
