Boyle Sings Rousing 'Memory' From Cats

(AP) – Surprise singing sensation Susan Boyle made a new television appearance today, showcasing once again her soaring voice—but refusing to compromise on the frumpy look that made her an Internet sensation. The shy church volunteer gave a rousing, but occasionally nervous, performance on the American Idol-style show Britain's Got Talent, with a version of the song "Memory" from the musical Cats.

Members of the public voting in a telephone poll picked her as the best of eight performers who appeared, meaning she will sing again in the contest's final next Saturday. Flashing a broad smile, Boyle danced in delight as her winning results were announced and said had relished the chance to perform. "Fantastic, absolutely fantastic," she said. "What pressure? I've really enjoyed myself tonight."

This woman's voice is bewitching. She is wonderful, simply wonderful. She cannot be "overdone" and we should all rejoice that talent has risen above money, connections and superficial beauty. Bravo!

60+ million YouTube viewings of Susan Boyle performances. Now THAT'S a waste of bandwidth.

I'm glad I got to hear this. I was rooting for her, and the judges obviously were too. She didn't let her fans down. Now, leave it alone until next week, unless she gets a makeover (or gets run over by a lorry.)
