Obamas Dine Out, Do Broadway in NYC

(AP) – President Barack Obama made good on a campaign promise to his most important supporter tonight—his wife, Michelle. The president and first lady jetted for a date in New York late this afternoon, aides and media in tow. "I am taking my wife to New York City because I promised her during the campaign that I would take her to a Broadway show after it was all finished," the president said in a statement read by an aide.

Following dinner at the Blue Hill, a West Village restaurant touted by New York magazine as a "seminal Greenmarket haven," the president and first lady were headed to the Belasco Theater to see Joe Turner's Come and Gone, a play by August Wilson. As the motorcade drove through the West Village, crowds gathered on the sidewalks; gates and security personnel kept passersby away from the Blue Hill.

They deserve some "away" time. No matter what they (the Obama's) do there will always be unreasonable criticism.

You are right on bostonbilly, but this is a hard site to say anything negative about Obama. It was A-okay to hate Bush and to continue to hate him but don't anyone dare to say they aren't happy with a decision Obama made. If they went out on this wonderful date that is fine, but why did they want the press involved and to get photos of their lovely outfits? This is part of the "obama can do not wrong" agenda.

You mean how Bush took the most vacation days of any President ever, all on the taxpayers dime and time?
