(Newser) – Heath Ledger won Best Villain last night at the MTV Movie Awards, but he was in the minority: Most of the awards went to tween fare, with Twilight snagging three, High School Musical 3 grabbing two, and Miley Cyrus winning one, E! reports. Jim Carrey and Amy Poehler were the only actors to join Ledger as winners from “grown-up” movies, while Ben Stiller won the MTV Generation Award.
Adult antics were on full display, though, from a musical medley of “Jizz in My Pants,” “I’m on a Boat,” and “Dick in a Box” to host Andy Samberg awkwardly attempting to flirt with Megan Fox. (NEWSER) - Forget about the "alternative" Golden Globes hosting : Ricky Gervais is returning to host the real thing in 2012, despite having offended just about everybody at the last Golden Globes . The Hollywood Foreign Press Association has voted to bring Gervais back for a third consecutive year, although the 16 of 62 members who were against having him back were very vocal in their opposition, sources tell the Los Angeles Times . (AP) - The sci-fi smash Inception and Facebook drama The Social Network took top screenplay honors last night at the Writers Guild Awards. Inception writer Christopher Nolan won for best original screenplay and The Social Network writer Aaron Sorkin won for best adapted screenplay. The Social Network, was the heavy favorite Sorkin adapted from the Ben Mezrich book The Accidental Billionaires. But the original screenplay category was considered a toss-up between Inception, the psychosexual thriller Black Swan, and the boxing drama The Fighter because current awards-season darling The King's Speech was not eligible for a WGA award as it was not made under the writing union's contract guidelines. (NEWSER) - The Social Network got a lot of love this morning as the Golden Globe nominations were announced, but British monarchy tale The King's Speech was the biggest hit with seven nominations. The Social Network and The Fighter followed with six nominations each, the AP reports.
