US Couple Charged With Spying for Cuba

Share

(Newser) – A retired State Department worker and his wife were charged today with spying for Cuba for nearly 3 decades, CNN reports. Appearing before a federal magistrate in Washington, DC, Walter Kendall Myers, 72, and Gwendolyn Myers, 71, were indicted for conspiracy, providing classified information, and wire fraud. They each face up to 35 years in prison for conveying information from State documents, often by memory.

An affidavit said the Myers have received coded messages, met with Cuban agents, and even dined with Fidel Castro since they began spying in the late 1970s. Cuba paid for the Myers' expenses, but they were "true believers" in Cuba's political system, a US official said: Kendall Myers complained of America's "lack of decent medical system, the oil companies," and "the complacency about the poor" in a diary quoted by prosecutors.

Spying for Cuba -- isn't that about as bad as spying for Ohio? Reply

Spying for Cuba is no worse than spying for Israel. I think we actually have nothing to fear from Cuba. Israel, OTOH, will happily engage us in a false flag operation causing WWIII if it gets them more of their "Promised Land". Reply

Israel has fought for their "Holy Land" for over half a century now and they've obviously been winning by a landslide. They took on every country surrounding their New Jersey-sized country and prevailed every time. The truth is that neither Israelis nor Palestinians ever wanted a two-state solution. They were both too consumed with hatred and violence to even really consider it, the two-state solution was first proposed in 1936 during periods of heavy Arab-Israeli violence. On November 29, 1947 the British Government submitted a Partition Plan for a two-state solution to the Arabs and Israelis, the Israelis accepted and the Arabs refused. The Arabs would have been allotted approximately 40% of the territory, while the Israelis would have taken possession of the remaining 60%. The Palestinians were outraged at this and vowed to eliminate the Israelis ; they proceeded to lose every conflict from that point on. Reply

What if I barged into your house with help from my thug friends, and then after many fights, my thug friends proposed that you would get 40% of your house in exchange for peace with me? I'd gladly take 60%. You'd settle for 40%?
