Dear Dave: Shut Up About Palin

Share

(Newser) – Sarah Palin is "glowingly happy to be in the national spotlight again and doesn't want to give it up any time soon," Ken Tucker of Entertainment Weekly observes in the course of offering David Letterman unsolicited advice: "Clam up." The Late Night host returns tonight after being off the air since Thursday—his Friday show tapes earlier in the week—while the flap over his wisecracks about the Alaska governor has inflamed the blogosphere.

"Don't give the TV cable news analysis shows, whether they lean right, left, or 'objective,' any more fodder for what has been, for the most part, an ever-higher tower of Babel-babble without any useful insight," Tucker writes. Meanwhile, protesters organized by through a website set up by a New York state assemblyman and a self-described "Republican strategist" from Tennessee are planning a "Fire David Letterman" rally outside the Ed Sullivan Theater tomorrow, the New York Daily News reports.

Double me down on that, Atomick. Support is lovely; blind allegiance is merely cultish.

Well, isn't that the whole point? A slathering follower of Obama is guilty of the same blind acceptance. For Pete's sake, you can like the guy but voicing an objection when he let's you down is the epitome of Patriotism. I voted for the man, but that doesn't keep me from remembering that he's narcissistic enough to thing he should rule the free world. I think that about all my Presidents. It was something the Founding Fathers asked of me when they handed me Free Speech on a platter.

Have to agree. She's looking for attention and jumped on this immediately. As for people whining that 'why are her children fair game and Obama's aren't - Palin brought her children into this front and center from the day she was brought in as VP. She used her own (at the time underaged) daughter's pregnancy as 'proof' that she was anti-choice...of course she is also pro-abstinence only education and you can see where that lead to. Its the irony of her 'beliefs' versus her 'reality' It is literally the ugly, old man living in a glass house and claiming that he alone knows the secret to fashion....he can believe that all he wants, but those of us forced to bear witness will call him on it every time.
