(Newser) – Despite another apology from David Letterman, Sarah Palin and her supporters aren't done yet with the beleaguered talk-show funnyman, reports the Daily News. The online group "Fire David Letterman" is organizing a rally tonight outside the Manhattan studio where Letterman films his program. The web site is sponsored by a Republican New York state assemblyman and right-wing radio host John Ziegler.

"Firing Mr. Letterman would send a clear message that CBS will not tolerate demeaning comments about women," said Assemblyman Brian Kolb, referring to Letterman's joke about Bristol Palin being "knocked up" by Yankee slugger Alex Rodriquez. The site, which charges Letterman with "violating common decency," includes CBS contact information. The controversy over Letterman's Palin family jokes erupted just as his program hit the No. 1 spot among late-night rivals.

(NEWSER) - One of the two Secret Service supervisors to lose their jobs so far over the Colombia sex scandal joked that he was checking out Sarah Palin as he guarded her during the 2008 campaign, the Washington Post finds. Senior agent David Chaney posted at least two pictures of himself with Palin on Facebook, one with the comment, "I was really checking her out, if you know what I mean." (NEWSER) - Former Today show anchor Bryant Gumbel was "embarrassed" when NBC named Sarah Palin co-host for a day last week. Hosts “used to be judged not just on their popularity, but the extent to which they were capable of interviewing someone or reporting on a situation, or able to have a degree of gravitas," Gumbel grumbled to Newsweek media critic Howard Kurtz.
