Bloomberg’s billions aren’t going to propel him on a bid for president in 2008, Reuters reports. The New York City mayor told Dan Rather that "The answer is 'no.’ If somebody asks me where I stand, I tell them. And that's not a way to get elected generally.” Bloomberg’s politics have bounced him from the Dems to the GOP to being an Independent candidate since 2001.
He also claimed to "have no interest" in running for vice-president. When asked whether Secretary of the Treasury sounded appealing, he shot back: "Nobody is going to delegate a lot of power to a secretary that they can't control.” Bloomberg's wealth and cross-country speaking tours have whipped up speculation that he wants his next seat to be inside the Oval Office.
