Jackie, Bobby Had Affair: Book

Neighbors claim to have seen frisking; experts decry

Share

(Newser) – Jackie Kennedy turned to the arms of brother-in-law Bobby after John F. Kennedy’s assassination—or so a Kennedy biographer claims in Bobby and Jackie: A Love Story, out July 14. C. David Heymann alluded to such claims in two previous books, the New York Daily News reports, but Kennedy insiders aren’t convinced. “It’s a new low,” says one biographer; the Kennedy White House press secretary went further, calling it “bullshit.”

The book also reveals Jackie’s two sultry nights with Marlon Brando, according to the New York Post. Heymann got the story through cut passages from Brando’s memoir, including Jackie’s come-on, “Would you like to spend the night?” and Marlon’s response, “I thought you’d never ask.” Brando’s final assessment? “I’m not sure she knew what she was doing sexually, but she did it well.”

You would have had to be dumb, deaf, and blind not to see it. - Kennedy family friend Chuck Spalding, on the attraction between Jackie and Bobby

It's a new low, and you just wonder how far people are willing to go. Yes, Bobby and Jackie had a relationship as friends, but [the romance] is a total exaggeration. I feel sorry for Heymann. - Kennedy biographer Laurence Leamer

I think it's fair game. If it was found out that Reagan had affair... after affair, it would just be as newsworthy. Deceased or not, they are still voluntary public figures and need to be held accountable, just as with Sanford and Edwards.

Does this story actually have any cultural or historical significance to the American people or does the media just enjoy dragging people through the mud? Reply

For some reason Kennedy's still sell all these years later. It will make money for an author who can't find anything better to write about. Reply
