(Newser) – The new Transformers flick had a stellar start, raking in $60.6 million on opening day to make it the biggest Wednesday debut ever, Variety reports. For all-around opening days, the Michael Bay shoot-em-up lags just behind record-holder Dark Knight, which took in $67.2 million on a Friday last summer. Transformers 2 has a shot at eclipsing the best five-day open ever, a mark of $152.4 million set by Spider-Man 2 in 2004.

Reviews are interesting because you have such a cross section of opinions. I read some from people who loved it and from others who did not. I'm sorry you're such an american about hollywood movies. You're right. I'll never understand being into corporate propaganda.

Lets face it, ever since Jurassic Park, it has been okay to make a movie with no script, no clever ideas, and no talented acting as long as you have lots of special effects and explosions. people have no sense of quality. This is why Spiderman 3, a cinematic dry heave, made as much money as it did. and why we'll probably see another Pirates of the Caribbean sooner than later.
