Jackson Doc Hires Attorney to Meet LAPD

Cops question Murray just to 'fill in blanks,' lawyer says

(Newser) – Dr. Conrad Murray, the man at the center of suspicion surrounding Michael Jackson’s death, hired a lawyer before meeting again with police today, the Los Angeles Times reports. But Murray’s attorney says authorities have assured him the cardiologist isn’t a suspect. “We’ve been told more than once that this is not a murder investigation,” Ed Chernoff told the Houston Chronicle.

Chernoff added that police are questioning Murray merely to “fill in the blanks.” Murray was reported to be in hiding, but Chernoff says the doctor “didn’t go anywhere,” “intends to cooperate” with police, and “has nothing to hide.” Noting that Murray tried to resuscitate Jackson, Chernoff said, “I’m sure you could hear him in the background (of the 9-1-1 call).”

We’ve been told more than once that this is not a murder investigation and that Dr. Murray is not a suspect in any way. This is just an information-gathering meeting and nothing more. - Ed Chernoff,
attorney for Dr. Conrad Murray

Smart move on the docs part. Because if he had prescribed ANY of the drugs. Jackson od'd on he is culpable as a contributing factor. And the police would find out. And would file charges if needed. Yeah. Get that lawyer dude. You may need it
