'Gayby Boomers' Slam Critics But Admit Ups and Downs

Share

(Newser) – Experts are still debating the effects of gay parenting on children, but so-called "Gayby Boomers" are now old enough to speak up for themselves. Several in their 20s and 30s tell CNN that they grew up more empathetic than their peers, developed the courage to take unpopular stands, and never missed a mom or dad. Critics, the 'Boomers say, talk cruelly about them, but never bother talking to them.

One is author Dale O'Leary: "These children are more likely to experiment with same-sex relationships," he said. "They're more likely to be confused and hurt." Some Gayby Boomers admit to such confusion, or to growing up ashamed of their parents in a homophobic atmosphere. But most say they are proud today. One, who rebelled at home by following Rush Limbaugh, still loves his moms and supports gay marriage. "I was raised in a loving, caring household that let me be a free thinker," he says.

"One, who rebelled at home by following Rush Limbaugh" ... well that alone is enough to outlaw the entire thing. LOL Seriously, I don't give a damn if there are 3 parents of the same sex as long as they supply the love and support a child needs as they grow up.....I live in a VERY dangerous city, drugs and prostitution run rampant yet at 10:30 at night I also see 8 and 9 year old children walking around with no parental supervision and then the adult a-holes scream when the kid get themselves into trouble and want to cry about cops being to hard on them. They should jail parents such as that Reply
