(Newser) – Glenn Beck and his guest last night, ex-CIA employee Michael Scheuer, kicked off the 4th of July festivities early when Scheuer declared that America’s only hope “is for Osama bin Laden to deploy and detonate a major weapon in the United States.” Gawker blogger the Cajun Boy marvels, “The neoconservatives aren't even trying to hide their pulling for such things anymore.”

Why does the country need another terrorist attack, you might wonder? Because that’s the only way to distract politicians from their love of power and praise to see that they must protect America “with as much violence as necessary,” Scheuer said—and the Fox News host didn’t disagree. “And these are the same people who revel in cloaking their deranged beliefs in patriotism, mind you,” notes the Cajun Boy.
