(Newser) – Former Tennessee Titans quarterback Steve McNair was found shot to death in the head today, along with an unidentified woman, at an apartment complex in Nashville, WTVF-TV reports. No suspects are in custody. McNair, 36, who played 13 NFL seasons before retiring last year, led the Titans to the Super Bowl in 1999 and was the league’s co-MVP in 2003.

In a statement, Titans owner Bud Adams said, “He was one of the finest players to play for our organization and one of the most beloved players by our fans.” Dozens of shocked fans began to gather at the crime scene, leaving flowers and sharing memories of the famed QB. “First Michael Jackson and now this,” said one woman.

(NEWSER) - A Tennessee student is in custody after his principal was found dead in a pool of blood in a classroom of their church school. The body of popular 49-year-old school head Suzette York was discovered by a teacher at the Seventh-Day Adventist Memphis Junior Academy. A 17-year-old student was still on the scene and was arrested when police arrived, according to authorities. York was described by a colleague as a "caring" educator who "had a natural concern for the children being obedient and doing the things that they're supposed to be doing." More»

(NEWSER) - A 17-year teaching veteran finally had enough, and his subsequent meltdown was caught on video. Donald Wood was teaching his 11th grade algebra class at Nashville’s McGavock High School when he decided a group of laughing students needed to “shut up.” They didn’t, and Wood started waving his arms and talking about his “absolute power” before throwing tables, a garbage can, and a chair around the room.
