(Newser) – LSU linebacker Derrick Odom III was arrested yesterday after attempting to force his way into a condo following an argument with the resident last month, police said. Odom, considered one of the NCAA's most promising athletes, has been suspended from the team indefinitely pending further investigation, said a school spokesman.

Investigators also charge that Odom threatened the tenant's father and vandalized the younger man's car, ESPN reports. LSU had expected Odom, who was a redshirt freshman last season, to come in off the bench this year. He was one of the top prospects in the country out of Callaway High in Jackson, Miss., in 2006.
