Liz Cheney: I May Seek Office

(Newser) – DIck Cheney's daughter Liz is considering a run for public office. “It's something I very well may do,” the lawyer and Bush-era State Department deputy secretary tells the Washington Times. Cheney says she's particularly worried about Congressional Democrats' attempts to hang charges of CIA meddling on her father. “It gets more and more appalling everyday,” she says. “I think they're very worried about Speaker Pelosi.”

“I've spent a lot of time promoting democracy around the world,” Cheney says of her time at State and her former position at USAID. That experience moved her to consider running for office. “It has made me really grateful for our system and has given me a real understanding of how important it is to participate.” Participation will have to wait, though—Cheney is now focused on raising her children and helping her father write his memoirs.
