Despite Cameo, Ron Paul Plans to Skip Brüno

Share

(Newser) – Ron Paul is more likely to be out biking this weekend than watching Sacha Baron Cohen’s Brüno, though the congressman and 2008 presidential candidate has a cameo. “Doesn’t exactly reflect my best moments,” the Texas Republican, 73, told the Hill. Paul appears in a scene in which Cohen, posing as an Austrian fashion journalist, comes on to him and drops his pants, after which Paul storms out.

Another thing Paul apparently won’t be doing while riding his bike: wearing a helmet. “It’s inconvenient from me to wear a helmet regardless of the law. I don’t wear a helmet," said Paul, who is also a doctor. "Even though if you asked me for medical advice, [I’d say] it’s probably a good idea.”

LOL! Mr. "Personal Responsibility" does bother to wear a helmet, despite being a DOCTOR?! Gee, its exactly that never failing rationalism that will serve us well when everything is privatized and we're ruled by a cold and uncaring oligarchy (that a weak central government is powerless to regulate), right Mr. Paul? Ron is a libertarian, so he would advocate your individual freedom to choose whether you want to wear a helmet or not, instead of having the government force you to wear one like a parent. You should have the freedom to make bad personal choices. Reply
