No Vote on Health Care Reform Before Fall: Reid

More time is needed to build support for bill, majority leader says

(Newser) – The Senate will not vote on the health-care bill before the August recess, Majority Leader Harry Reid said today, citing the need to build bipartisan support—or even unified Democratic support—for such comprehensive reform, the AP reports. “Working with Republicans, one of the things that they asked for was more time,” Reid said. “I don’t think it’s unreasonable.”

Reid said the Senate Finance Committee will finish its work on the plan before the recess, but the bill must then be merged with work done by the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee. And with negotiations continuing, there’s just not enough time, Democrat Dick Durbin adds. “Count the days. Either we’re going to go into overtime or face the prospect of doing it after August.”

What a crock of shit. You have so many of those Senators getting rich off the drug companies, that they are holding off to secure better deals for themselves. Wake up America..this is not a democratic or republican issue or "bipartisan" issue. It's a $$$$$$$ issue. The democrats must have forgotten already about how they lost badly under the Clinton Administration for pulling the same crap. American's need strong affordable health care. Senators don't care how long they take, because they don't struggle to pay medical bills or for their medications. We pay for them everyday...they don't.

Screw building bipartisan support! You have the votes. Grow a spine and use them. Do what the republicans do. Railroad any one in your way. Obviously the high road is not working. The GOP is going to dig in its heals all it can to stop this thing. Being bipartisan is an excuse for not having a much needed pair between your legs. Pansy Ass Dems.

Regardless of what the bill actually reflects, the Republicans aren't thinking of it for the American public, they are thinking of their financial interest and where they will take their summer vacation.
