NFL Will Let Vick Play Again

(Newser) – Michael Vick can play football again, ESPN reports. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell met with the newly free quarterback today and settled on a conditional reinstatement, sources say. Vick will be allowed to sign with a team—so far, none have said they want him—but will be suspended four games once the season starts. During their meeting, Vick reportedly offered a personal apology to Goodell for lying about his role in a dogfighting ring. The news comes just in time: NFL training camps open next week.

What's wrong with a little Dog Fighting? The steroid freaks in the NFL are a lot more vicious.

The guy is, unquestionably, a jerk. Any team taking him on risks a backlash from some fans, that will factor into any decision to take him on.... Beyond that, he committed a crime. Got caught. Got arrested. Had a trial. Got found guilty. Went to jail. Served his time. That's how the system works, he gets another shot at trying to live a decent life, and if his career is in football, of course he's going to try and get back into football. We all reserve the right to despise him for what he did, and act in a way that shows that (not watching, live or on tv any game in which he plays to minimise the team's income for example) - we don't get to stop him trying to live his life.
