Here Comes the Robot Bride

Share

(Newser) – A Japanese fashion designer has enlisted a humanoid robot to model wedding dresses on the runway, the Sun reports. The robot, “Miim,” took to the catwalk like a pro, strutting and casting glances at the audience like her human counterparts. “We hope she can work in fashion and entertainment,” Miim’s creator says. But he acknowledges the moment was bittersweet: “Like the father of the bride, I feel both happy and sad.”

For a moment there, I was truly worried that a japanese man had tied the knot with a machine. Reply

They've landed in the uncanny valley (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uncanny_valley) yet again, but much, much worse. Reply

Japanese have their ways, of course they most likely say the same things about us FoxholeAtheist, and I was stationed in mainland Japan, Iwakuni, for two years.
