(Newser) – Some 125,000 giddy comic book fans converged on the San Diego Convention Center over the weekend to jockey for a spot at the film portion Comic-Con to get tantalizing sneak peeks at upcoming movies and hear insiders rave about projects. USA Today reports a few of the tantalizing tidbits Hollywood dangled:

  • A four-minute preview of Iron Man 2 showed Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark refusing to surrender his superhero suit to the government. Meanwhile, Scarlett Johansson throttles an enemy as the venomous Black Widow.

  • Serial-villain Gary Oldman promoted his apocalyptic thriller The Book of Eli.
  • Ringmaster Peter Jackson talked up his new production, the alien-infested District 9, while old-hand James Cameron discussed Avatar, and fans donned 3-D glasses to view scenes.
