Meet the Birthers in Congress

Salon calls out lawmakers reluctant to admit Obama's a citizen

Share

(Newser) – The “birther” movement isn’t relegated to backwoods crazies—many members of Congress are perfectly willing to throw fuel on the fire. Salon calls out the Hill’s known birthers:

  • Rep. Bill Posey: Congress’ first birther, the Florida Republican is the sponsor of a bill requiring presidents to submit a birth certificate. Says he can’t “swear on a stack of bibles,” that Obama’s a citizen.

  • Sen. Jim Inhofe, R-Okla.: Says birthers “have a point,” and “I don’t discourage it.”
  • Sen. Richard Shelby, R-Ala.: “Well, his father was Kenyan, and they said he was born in Hawaii, but I haven’t seen any birth certificate,” he once declared. A spokesman later said Shelby didn’t doubt Obama’s eligibility.
  • Rep. Dan Burton, R-Ind.: The guy who once shot a pumpkin to demonstrate how Bill Clinton could have killed Vince Foster is now co-sponsoring Posey’s bill.

What a bunch of right wing nuts. They would do the country good if they would do what we elected them to do, instead of all this bull shit. Reply

What, Newser says Congress is free of "backwoods crazies ... perfectly willing to throw fuel on the fire"? These two-bit crackers DEFINE backwoods crazy, as they represent their home-schooled corn-cob constituents. That's America-even hillbillies get to vote.

Now now Caps, be nice :) personally I am still waiting on Posey to disprove he is the illegitimate grandson of an alligator, after all Stephen Colbert has demanded that Posey disprove the rumors about his own parentage yet no proof has been forthcoming :). Reply

How come Barry doesn't just cough up the birth cert and shut the "wing-nuts" up? He CAN'T cuz he don't have one. BO is a big fake on any number of levels--we all know that--and he might not even be a legit citizen to boot. Reply

Yo, Dip-Stick, he has, Hawaii also has, today Hawaii even went so far as to once and for all make a public announcement from the Governor of that state that Obama was born there, also is the fact that two separate news papers ran the birth announcement way back when he was born yet the Right Wing Nutz can't read and left common sense at home, so go suck an acorn or whatever it is you do for nourishment, your brain is starving
