(Newser) – Even Bill O'Reilly thinks that Lou Dobbs' continuing sympathy with the birther movement questioning President Obama's birth certificate is just a ploy "to get ratings, trying to be provocative." But if Dobbs is pushing conspiracy theories to bump up viewership, it isn't working, reports the New York Observer. Over the past two weeks Dobbs' ratings on CNN have dropped 15%, and among the 25-54 demographic, he's down 27%.

Ah, so it's the attention you're after with your obsessive fixation on that birth certificate holy grail. I guess you have more in common with C_k than I thought. SPH was so correct to point out to you that the Constitution says nothing about a birth certificate, Certificate of Live Birth, "Long Form" BC, or any such thing. And to demand that the first African American president bring it out and parade it in front of a pack of braying blood hounds is demeaning in the extreme. Do you really feel comfortable in the company of such a collection of haters and attention whores? Orly Tiatz for God Sake. Comparing Obama to Stalin on Colbert's show. Disgusting. And yes, I did read your statement that you'd be willing to grant a one time exception to Obama. What a relief that was. Now, how about taking a position on amending that incredibly anachronistic, useless, troublesome, unfair provision? And what do you think of the Wikipedia discussion of McCain's status?
