(Newser) – David Beckham is afraid of Shaquille O’Neal—at least according to Shaquille O’Neal. Becks refused to compete against Shaq on the soccer field for the NBA star's upcoming TV show, Shaq Vs., the New York Post reports. That prompted the challenger to declare on Twitter, “he should b scared, he can never score a goal on me.” Beckham then told TMZ, “I don't see him calling Kobe out. I think Kobe could score against him.” Elsewhere:

  • Sacha Baron Cohen’s next out-there character, according to the Sun tabloid: A Eurovision singer in a mockumentary due out in 2011.
  • Jessica Biel can sing—who knew? The actress made her musical theater debut this weekend at the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s concert version of Guys and Dolls, the AP reports.
  • Naomi Campbell’s infamous temper may have gotten the better of her again, the New York Daily News reports. An Italian paparazzo tells an Italian paper the aging supermodel hit him with her purse and scratched his eye with her nails.
  • Kevin Costner narrowly escaped tragedy Saturday when a stage collapsed moments before he and his band took the stage at a Canadian music festival, E! reports. One person was killed and 75 injured in the accident.
