(Newser) – Maybe he’s been practicing, or maybe becoming president has boosted his confidence, but Barack Obama has apparently become a much better bowler. The president spent Saturday night relaxing at Camp David to celebrate his upcoming birthday today, Robert Gibbs revealed yesterday. Gibbs says Obama was with friends “playing basketball and bowling.” Immediately, of course, someone asked about the score.

“144,” Gibbs replied. The press looked incredulous, recalling of course, the infamous 37. “You seem to doubt,” he said. “I watched the last four throws, three strikes and a nine. I told the president, ‘Look, if you had done this in Pennsylvania, my life would have been a little easier.’ ”

Agreed, everyone is allotted personal/free time but honestly, aren't there more pressing issues to report?

Whoa, you are only supposed to do that on the eve of your birthday!? That's what I do everyday.

Why do the people who like to sound tough on Newser come across as a bunch of bedwetters? The guy went bowling...oooh, he's a criminal! What should he do, stay home and eat lard?
